While in college I played soccer (NCAA-Div. 2), and I was very active in student government, the college singers, jazz band,Mud-Bowl football games, intramural sports, fencing, and travel.   I also worked for the physical plant department (student work-study) as a custodian.  Other work study included washing dishes, short-line cooking in the cafeteria, working friers, milkers, food lines, etc... I also worked as the student manager of the Beverage center (Campus information) for a year.    I finished my undergraduate  work at Springfield with a 12 week student teaching practicum at Burlington High School in Burlington,Massachusetts and this was completed just prior to graduation.
I was hired at MSAD # 49 to teach science at Lawrence Junior High School during the summer of 1980, and I started my first teaching assignment that fall at LJHS.   During my tenure at Lawrence I have taught Earth Science, Life Science, and Physical Science with the majority of my duties being in the Earth Science area. Outside of my regular teaching duties I have been involved with various groups, plays, committees, Etc...and I have chaperoned11(eleven) 8thgrade trips to Washington D.C.    I have been involved with sports as I have coached Indoor Track (Lawrence High School)both as an assistant and as head coach, and I have been an assistant coach during spring track for numerous seasons.  During the fall from 1980-89 I was the Varsity girls soccer coach at Waterville High School, and I coached girls Junior High soccer here at Lawrence Junior High from1990-97.   I retired from coaching all sports after 1997 so that I could spend more time following my daughters' school, and sports activities.   I have since returned to coaching, and have been coaching the 8th grade girls soccer team at LJHS for the last 2 seasons.

My wife Ann, (who is a retired science teacher in another school district) and I have been married going on (34 years) and have two children.   We all like to travel, and most recently my wife and I flew down to Alabama where my oldest Elizabeth was getting married.  Unlike a lot of trips this one was most all centered around the wedding so seeing any of the country side was limited to the plane flight.  The wedding was wonderful and everything went off without a hitch.
Before this we have to go back about 6 summers ago when we travelled to the west coast to attend the 2008 U.S Olympic track and field trials at Eugene, Oregon.   My wife Ann was a member of the 1980 U.S Olympic team and they were having a reunion at the trials.   After 5 days at Eugene traveling about and visiting with her former teammates, we said our goodbyes, and we headed out on an adventure to the north into Washington state.  We visited the Olympic rain forest, and got up close and personal to several volcanoes, and finally ended up in British Columbia, Canada.   We celebrated Canada day with the locals, chased Orca's up the San Juan islands in a (very fast) rib protector craft with 7 other brave souls in full survival gear, and were still able to have a nice dinner in a quiet restaurant in Victoria,British Columbia that evening.

My Daughters have also been very busy traveling during their college years.    Several Summers ago  my oldest was in the Czech-Republic for 2 months studying at Charles University,  and my youngest was off the coast of Africa on board a trainingship.  Since then my oldest was part of a Medical team in the Dominican Republic, and my youngest was driving ships in Boston harbor, workinging at a sea turtle hospital in North Carolina and traveling to India.    Both have finished their undergraduate work and my oldest Liz with a BS in Biochemistry from the University of New England has just finished defending her research thesis and has earned her masters degree in Biomolecular Engineering from the University of Hawaii at Manoa.   My youngest AJ a Marine Biologist ( Maine Maritime Academy) is currently working for NOAA on board a fisheries ship as a  senior survey technician.

All this gives way to some very stimulating conversations at the dinner table when  everyone gets together.

Thank you, and I hope that you enjoy using this website, and that it is helpful to you in some way.

I am a proud professional educator and a life-long learner.
